Few days back I wrote about IC3 ( Internet Crime Complaint Center). This time I am sharing about, where you can make complaint against Online Fraud, like Telemarketing Fraud, Internet Fraud, Counterfeit Drugs, Scams against Business, Fraud News etc. www.fraud.org is a website by NCL (National Consumer League, America's oldest nonprofit consumer organization), which provides the Online Fraud reporting facility.
The National Consumers League’s Fraud Center Web site, www.fraud.org, provides tips about how to recognize and avoid telemarketing and Internet scams and an online fraud report form. NCL sends information reported by individuals about suspected telemarketing and Internet scams to law enforcement agencies. User from almost any country can file their Online Fraud complaint through fraud.org.

Although basically this online report was designed for U.S people, but at present almost any people from Afghanistan .......India.... to  Zimbabwe can file a report for their Online Fraud.

How To Know the Details of a WEBSITE by WHOIS, Stop Internet Crime

Few posts earlier, I mentioned about reporting about Internet Crime to IC3( see previous post). But the very important part for reporting about an Internet Crime is to Know the Details of a Website, who is the Adminstrator, his contact address etc.You can know all the details of a Website by "WHOIS" ( Who is??). WHOIS is a query used for knowing the databse details of a website i.e IP Address (Internet Protocol Address-> It is a number assigned to your Internet Service by your Internet Service Provider ISP), domain name ( e.g. wegatalk.com is a domain name, registered with a web hosting service), Date of Registration, Address, Contact number, date of expiry of the domain etc. Literally WHOIS can give you all the Details of a Website or a domain. Let's for example see the WHOIS details of site http://www.astitv.org/

The above screen shot is just half of the whois information, but you can easily see the name of Registrant, Date of creation of Website, Address, Phone Number, email address, so many valuable informations.

The WHOIS information can assist the Law Enforcing Authorities in investigation & enforcing national &a international Laws. For example if a site is doing some unlawful activities, like terrorism, Internet Crime, racisist activities, child abuse. Fraud etc, they can be tackled by their WHOIS information.

Just go to any website mentioned above & write the name of website, whose WHOIS, you want to know, in the search box & hit enter--> you will get all the WHOIS information. Hope You will see the WHOIS, to know the Details of  a Website before entering that site or dealing financially with that site.

One Can Hide it's WHOIS by paying to it's Webhosting services.

Hiding WHOIS indicates, that the owner does not want a transparent behaviour & it looks fishy.

Is somebody sending you "threatening emails, or trying to make you rich by saying you have won millions of pounds or dollar in a lucky draw by Yahoo!! etc, for which you have never participated??? Report to the "INTERNET CRIME CENTER". Is somebody is threatening/harassing you of dire consequences on 'IM/voice chat ?? Report to the "INTERNET CRIME COMPLAINT CENTER"i.e IC3. At IC3 you can complaint for Internet /Online Scams, Fraud, Cheat, Threats, email scams etc.



The Internet Crime Control Centre (IC3), is in partnership with Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI), & the National Collar Crime Center (NW3C) & the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). IC3 accepts online Internet crime complaints from either the person who believes, they were defrauded or from a third party to the complainant.
Information required for filing a complaint:

• name
• mailing address
• telephone number
• name, address & web address( if available) of the individual or organization you believe has defrauded you.
• specific details on how, why, & when you believe you were defrauded.
• any other relevant information to support your complaint, such as emails, receipt, chat message.

Complaint Filed by this website i.e www.ic3.gov are processed & may be reffered to federal, state, local or international law enforcement or regulatory agencies for possible investigation.
** Please Note:

• Filing of a complaint with IC3 is in no way a notification to your "CREDIT CARD COMPNAY".( means for any fraud or misuse of your credit card, or any problem with your credit card, you have to directly inform your Credit card company for your concerns)
  
• Providing false information can make you subject to "FINE, IMPRISONMENT or BOTH. (TITLE 18, U.S CODE, SECTION, 1001)
