"WOT" or web of trust, is a "FREE" Internet Security "add on" or "Plugin" for your webbrowser like Internet Explorer or Firefox , that warns you about Risky websites. "WOT" warns you before you click to open risky sites. It's very easy to install & is"FREE". When you search for a website in the Google search or any Search bar, the "WOT" gives you the Security status of that website. If You have opened a website directly, then by clicking the "WOT" icon in your browser toolbar, you can see the security status of that website , you just opened.

See in below screen shot how "wot" has shown , when I serached for Kazaa.com. See it is showing red sign for www.kazaa.com (DON'T Click this link). Kazaa is known to run spywares & virus, tracking cookies to it's visitors. See the the details of Kazaa in wikipedia , is showing Green circle, coz wiki is well known safe site.
By installing "wot" addon button to your webbrowser, you can decide yourself, which site to open or not. see the result when I directly opened the site kazaa. You can see the result of a site even after opening , by clicking on the "wot" Icon on the left hand side of your browser.

After Installing the Software, run the downloaded file by double clicking, (InternetConnection is necessary). After installation process, "wot" will take you to the home page for setting process, where you can choose your settings,click Finish after selecting, the settings.Restart your Browser, IE or Firefox. Now you will see the "wot" green circle on the Toolbar of your "browser". Search any site in Google search or Bing, the "wot will show it's reputation by showing the security colours. "WOT" will also show the security details,of your directly opened website, when you click the "wot" Button of your browser,it will show the safefty of the page, you had opened.
Similar applications like wot is Dr.web Antivirus Link checker, (see my older posts). Dr Web Antivirus link checker shows the safety of a link , provided in a webpage.
McAfeesite advisor also provides the site security status in same way.

Thanks!! deb, I was using earlier Dr.Weblink checker & McAfee site Advisor, but What I liked in "wot" is both site & link Security simultaneously,& the People Integration is really Great. This will create in Future a real security ratings based on Public opinion, not a mere theoritical Labs opinion.
