"20 Tips to save your computer from virus & spywares":
1.First of all have an antivirus installed in your computer.A computer without an antivirus is like a snail without it's shell" :-).
2.update your virus database daily (remember 3000 viruses are made daily).
3.Intall a registry cleaner or mechanic,see last post ( latest version preferred, but old version will do if you get a free one:-). Download a free registry cleaner

4. Install an Antispyware like: Spybot search & destroy, Threat Fire from Pctools, Online Armor ....... Download "Spybot serach & Destroy" from here
5.Always keep your firewall turned on. For this go to control panel--> security-->windows firwall--> On . You can try some personal Firewalls also like Sygate Personal Firewall.

6.Do not visit unsafe or untrusted sites (like porn sites, if you still want to see it see in safe mode)
7.Try to avoid frequent & unnecessary downloads from Internet.
8.If you are downloading a file, before hitting start download ,see the publisher's certificate ,whether it is certified or not. Windows will ask that the publisher is not verified do you want to run it.)
9.Some websites ,running media streams like songs or video or flash player etc, will prompt you to install Active-X. This is required to run the program. Decide yourself whether it is worth taking risk or not.
10.Always keep your pop-up blocker in turn on state. If it is required to allow pop-ups , do it temporarily.
11.Disable your CD/DVD drive from Auto run to user permission , so that it will always ask for your permission,, Auto run can send virus directly to your computer.
12. Same rule is valid for pen drives & external drives.

13. Always scan your downloaded file before running it. If the windows security does not show the publisher's verification, think before running the program ( Although windows do it in many trusted cases also)
14.Scan any unknown CD/DVD before running it in your computer.If the auto run is not disabled the CD/DVD will run automatically, spreading virus, if present in the CD/DVD.
15.Scan your pen drive ,if you have had used it earlier in public computers or scan other's pen drive before using it in your computer.
16.Scan your computer daily. Fix a time when you are not using the computer, coz it takes long to full scan the computer by antivirus software.
17.Do not open unknown emails or messages. Always scan your email attachment before opening it.
18.Scan your registry daily by registry editor & repair the errors.
19.Notice any abnormal behaviour of your computer, like hangup of pages, web page not opening as previously, slow start of computer on turning on.
20.Listen to the sound of your computer, the normal running sound of computer is like "humming" or hissing". The virus infected sound is "creaking" or "crackling".
