The Touch technology, & the future

A Microsoft professor at Germany, has developed a touch screen display prototype with just a size of a credit card. The interesting thing about this touch screen is that, the touch part is behind the screen.
The touch is shown by a cursor, but as the touch part is behind the screen ,the view is not obscured due to the scrolling finger of the user.

Touch screens uses infrared light between two sides with photo sensors.
When an object such as finger or pen stylus, touches the screen, it interrupts infrared light. This is calculated by the photo sensors & is utilised to locate the touch point. The future of touch screen is very exciting, as the scientists are working on three dimensional touch screen. Large touch screens are very widely used in exit polls during the elections, where they were able to merge screen or overlap the windows by just drag and drop. That was looking very impressive during the media coverage. Hoping that 3D touch screen will soon hit the market.
