How much you can store on a disc???25 GB,50GB??It's 1TB now (TERABYTES),Future of Holographic Discs 2012

Forget Blue ray discs now, the Future is coming in 2012, the Holographic disc, that will allow you to store more than 1 Terabytes on a single disc.
I still remember, when I started computers in 2001 in India, I used a black colour plastic square thing , known as Floppy to store my data. I saved some of my important files on it, but after few days , it never ran again. A zip drive, Floppy diskette, it was, just capable of storing some data files & pictures. Because the Floppy was so susceptible to damage, now it is almost obsolete to use Floppy diskettes, although the storage capacity is quite improved now a days, starting from
1.4MB to 240 MB today.

Then came the Compact disc or CD.having the capacity of 700MB, & the era of MP3 discs having more than 150 songs in a single disc, started, BUT STILL TO WATCH A MOVIE , I had to change two discs for a normal 140 minute movie.
This problem was solved by DVD , having the storage capacity, 8-10 times more than CD,
Blue ray discs came in June 2006, that changed the definition of storage discs. Yes Blue ray disc have 5 times more storage capacity than the DVD. The single layer can hold 25 GB of data and the dual layer can hold 50 GB of data in comparison to 4.5 & 9.0 GB of normal DVD ( although HD- DVD can hold 15 GB of data). Price of a blank Blur ray disc is $ 15 in the market. Due to the high price , initially people were reluctant to buy Blue ray disc, but in May 2008, Warner Brothers,Hollywood, supported Blue ray disc by announcing that, it will release it's movie, only on Blue ray disc.

Now, the time of "HOLOGRAPHIC DISC" is coming , where you can store more than 1 TB on a single disc, yes!! Forget Gigabytes(GB), now store Terabytes (TB) on a single disc.:-)

The big giants,GE (General Electronics), Sony, Daewoo & Maxell, are working on a Holographic Disc system, where, 1 disc will be able to store more than a TB. The initial disc will be able to store 300GB , more than 6 times a Blue ray disc, but the later versions will be more than a TB.
The physical size is exactly similar to a DVD or Blue ray disc, & can be played in a Blue ray player, although a bit modified, but the main factor is price. The Holographic discs are supposed to be marketed at a price tag of $18000. Yes!! 18k, oops!! at least, I can't even think of having one.:-) see the screen shots below.
